Formée à l'Université de Caen puis à Lyon 1, j'ai obtenu mon doctorat en virologie pour mon travail sur les lentivirus des petits ruminants. J'ai ensuite rejoint le laboratoire du Pr Ronald C Montelaro à l'université de Pittsburgh (PA, USA) en tant qu'associé de recherche senior pendant plus de 3 ans. J'ai travaillé sur l'évolution moléculaire d'EIAV (Equine Infectious Anemia Virus) chez les équidés au cours de la progression de la maladie et sur la compartimentalisation des quasi-espèces d'HIV chez les patients infectés.

Je suis rentrée à Lyon pour démarrer mon groupe de recherche "rétrovirus, Evolution et Cancer." J'ai obtenu mon HDR en 2001 et rejoint l'INRA (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique) en 2002.

J'ai développé mon expertise sur les rétrovirus animaux et les mécanismes associés au développement et à la progression des maladies. Dans ce contexte, je travaille sur plusieurs rétrovirus chez les animaux de rente tels que SRLV (Small Ruminant LentiVirus), JSRV (Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus) et ENTV (Enzootic Nasal Tumor Virus) chez les ovins et caprins et EIAV (Equine Infectious Anemia Virus) chez les équidés.

J'ai concentré la majeure partie de mon travail sur les maladies pulmonaires. Mon principal intérêt est de comprendre les interactions entre les rétrovirus et les cellules hôtes au cours de l'établissement et  la progression de la maladie. Au cours des dernières années, j'ai développé plusieurs projets de recherche sur le cancer induit par les rétrovirus chez les ovins et les caprins mais également sur les cancers rares non viraux induits chez l'homme. J'ai eu la chance de développer mon groupe au plus près de la clinique, grâce à mes collègues travaillant en médecine humaine et vétérinaire. J'apprécie particulièrement de mener des projets aux frontières de la recherche fondamentale et de la médecine humaine ou vétérinaire.
