Abstract

Members of the large family Phenuiviridae cover a wide spectrum of virulence. In my presentation, he will explain how the highly pathogenic Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) and the more mildly infecting Sandfly fever Sicilian virus (SFSV) are suppressing the antiviral interferon system, demonstrating that the same goal can be achieved by very different means.

Friedemann Weber is professor for Virology and Acting Director Institute for Virology at the Justus Liebig University Giessen
